Cristiano Zanetti urges Inter Milan to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Sempre Inter), Cristiano Zanetti believes signing Manchester United star Paul Pogba will give Inter Milan the tools to impress in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Antonio Conte’s side are currently flying high in the Serie-A this season. They currently hold an 11-point lead at the top are on course to break the Juventus dynasty.
It is in Europe that the Nerazzurri have however been found out. Conte’s side has failed to impress in the Champions League and have failed to progress beyond the group stages so far.
Zanetti believes the Italians need to strengthen themselves in midfield to improve their chances of success in Europe. One of the players earmarked by him as a difference maker is Paul Pogba.
“I’d say the same about Paul Pogba at Manchester United as well.”
The French ace has a little over a year left on his current deal at Old Trafford. While he has been linked with a move away, this is the first time that Inter Milan have been linked with him.
Zanetti too realises that Inter are probably out of their depth and stand no realistic chance of luring the Frenchman from the Theatre of Dreams. But then one can dream.
A challenger?
Another player on Zanetti’s radar is Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian has been in fine form for Lazio and is one of the best midfielders in the Italian top-flight.
“Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic would be perfect for them.”
His performances have also caught the attention of United who have followed him for some time now.
