Cesc Fabregas asserted that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag deserve one more transfer window to get the best out of the team. Ten Hag is currently under serious pressure after United struggles for consistency throughout this season, costing them numerous matches.

United are sixth in the Premier League, attempting to finish in the top-four but nine points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Furthermore, the Red Devils faced an embarrassing Champions League campaign, finishing fourth in their group to crash out earlier.

United also crashed out early in the Carabao Cup, the competition that Ten Hag won in his first season. The Dutchman ended a six-year trophy drought at Old Trafford by winning the Carabao Cup last season.

Erik ten Hag has options if he is sacked by Manchester United
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under serious pressure as speculations around his job increase.

Speaking on the Planet Premier League podcast, Fabregas defended Ten Hag while claiming he deserves another window. He said:

“You know we have to remember that Arteta had 3-4 years before we actually started to see the team that everyone was expecting to see. It takes time, recently you know I speak with Thiery Henry as well and he always tells you need three-four windows to start getting the team you really want to see. It’s difficult to say but 100% I would give him [Ten Hag] one more chance, one more window to see if we can get the best out of the team.”

Ten Hag’s reign involved plenty of behind-the-scene drama and controversies between him and players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho. Many criticized the 54-year-old for being unable to withstand big egos as he did not face the issue at Ajax.

Meanwhile, many fans backed the manager for his stern discipline that United missed since Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign. Ten Hag’s transfer decisions have also received a lot of scrutiny from the media and the fanbase.

After receiving thorough backing and power in the transfer market, the Dutchman signed numerous players he has coached before. Plenty of these signings have failed to live up to the expectations at the club despite their high transfer fees.
