Manchester United News: Anthony Martial suffers potential injury playing for France
A report by Manchester Evening News mentions that Manchester United striker, Anthony Martial, has picked up a potential injury playing for France in the FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
Martial was named by Didier Deschamps in the starting XI against Kazakhstan. The game got off to a great start for the 25-year-old as he provided a beautiful assist for Ousmane Dembele to score the opener.
And he was also involved for the second France goal as he pressured Serhiy Malyi into scoring an own goal just before the half-time whistle. But things took a bad turn at the beginning of the second half.
Martial went down in the penalty area as he fell awkwardly under a bad challenge. He still tried to continue playing despite receiving extensive medical attention on the field.
Injury scare for United
But he had to limp off the field around the hour mark for Kylian Mbappe. Martial only recently returned from a hip injury for the Red Devils which he picked up in the first leg of the Europa League tie against AC Milan.
He returned in the FA Cup defeat against Leicester City for United before coming on as a second-half substitute for Les Bleus in their 1-1 draw against Ukraine.
But the United gaffer would now be sweating over Martial’s fitness as United gear up for a busy start to April. They face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on 4th April before a midweek game against Granada.
France beat Kazakhstan 2-0 to record their first win in the qualifiers. But it is unclear if the former AS Monaco forward will feature for them this week when they take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday night.
