Solskjaer would welcome the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the finest players to don the Manchester United jersey and one of the greatest ever to play the game.
Despite being 36, he remains one of the best players in football and is currently leading the Serie A scoring charts with Juventus. The Old Lady is currently struggling to retain their Scudetto and had recently been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League.
With Juventus now set for a rebuild, it remains to be seen if Ronaldo has a place in what is to come. With just a year left on his current deal, the Portuguese star’s future could be up in the air.
Taking part in a Q and A session on the club’s official website (h/t Mirror), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he would welcome a chance to bring the player back to the Theatre of Dreams.
“There’s a few players I’ve played with that I’d love to have in my team, of course.”
Ronaldo enjoyed a six year spell in Manchester during which he transcended from a promising talent to world-class superstar. He made 292 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 118 goals and assisting 69 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
“You’d take him in your team, for sure.”
Not interested!
Whether United also think along the same line is doubtful. Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offered the club the opportunity to bid for the player last summer. It would appear that the club chose to pass on the chance. (h/t Mirror)
According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Mirror), Ronaldo could be available for as little as £25m this summer. He is, however, said to favour a return to La Liga giants Real Madrid, the club where he reached his zenith.

Solskjaer also revealed that he would have liked to bring back Roy Keane. The Irishman has not lost any of his feisty spirit off the field, but at 49, might find it difficult to express himself freely on the field.
While a return to Old Trafford would be the stuff of fairytales, it would make little sense for United to pursue Ronaldo. The club is better off focusing on the future than worry about the relics from our past.
