Paul Scholes holds Manchester United star Dean Henderson responsible for AC Milan slip-up
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Express), Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that Dean Henderson should have done better to keep AC Milan at bay on Thursday night.
The Red Devils looked to be on their way to a hard-fought 1-0 win. Unfortunately, Simon Kjaer had other ideas and drew Milan level in stoppage time.
The leveller is an away goal and hands the Italians the advantage going into the second leg. The onus to attack is now on United ahead of the trip to San Siro.
Kjaer’s powerful header was straight at Henderson. But the United goalkeeper could only deflect the ball onto the roof of the net.
“He should save it.”
Scholes believes the Englishman made the save look harder than it was. He is adamant that Henderson should have saved the header.
“First and foremost keep the ball out of the net. He should save that, there’s no doubt about it, he’ll know that.”
Scholes believes Milan were the better team on the right and deserved to come out on top. The Red Devils will need to step up their game in the second leg if they are serious about making it to the last eight.
“I thought they were by far and away the best side, created chances, the way they took the ball, very aggressive.”
The return leg will be played at San Siro on March 18.
