Paul Scholes backs Erik ten Hag and says no other manager could be better for Manchester United
Paul Scholes speaking on TNT Sports had some high praise for Erik ten Hag as Manchester gear up to take on Bayern Munich. The timing for this could not have been better considering the tough week that the Dutchman has had.
He also went on to express his concern over Ten Hag’s future if Manchester United’s ownership changes hands. Owing to this, Scholes might have given the Dutchman a much-needed push asking him to “get a move on”.
Erik ten Hag will be leading his men through a gruesome schedule this week. Hopefully, these kind words from a legend of the game will help boost the team’s morale in what could end up being an extremely important week for Manchester.
Paul Scholes wasn’t so kind to the players though as he criticized the current squad. He believes that Manchester are not even close to competing at the top with their current squad.
“We definitely don’t have the players to compete at the top of the table. We’re nowhere near that level”
Surely, The Red Devils should look to draw motivation from banter of this kind. Let us not forget that Ten Hag has already led this Manchester side to a top 3 finish in the Premier League last season.
The former midfielder also stated that sacking Ten Hag will in no way shape or form help this team. He mentioned that sticking with him is the correct choice for the time being.
