As reported by Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Manchester United are interested in the signing of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. However, the Frenchman has not been in the best of forms this season.

Rabiot has made 29 appearances for Juventus recording four goals and three assists. His last goal contribution came in February when he scored during a 2-2 tie against Hellas Verona.

Juventus captain, Danilo also criticized the player as he said that the performances of leaders like himself and Rabiot cannot fall off after the first half of the season. But the Frenchman might not be long for Italy since his contract expires in two months.

Manchester United will be hoping to snag the Juventus midfielder on a free transfer this summer. However, Rabiot wants a significant raise over his current wage of €7m, which might be difficult for the Red Devils.

It’s not about affordability but more so about Rabiot’s inconsistent form. He has not been playing up to his level for quite some time now. The fact that he will soon be entering his 30s does not help either.

If he doesn’t begin to perform Man United might be stuck with another overpaid deteriorating star. So, both the Frenchman and the Red Devils will have to get on the same page about wages if a deal is to go through.
