Napoli keen to enter the race for Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot

According to Italian publication TuttoSport via Spazio Milan, Napoli are keen to enter the race for Manchester United outcast Diogo Dalot.

The 21-year-old is currently out on a season-long loan at AC Milan. He has enjoyed mixed fortunes at the San Siro but impressed at the weekend’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona, even getting on the scoresheet.

As things stand, the jury is out on whether Milan will sign Dalot on a permanent move. It appears likely that he could return to Old Trafford once his loan expires.

Milan’s reluctance to make the deal permanent could leave the door open for other sides to make their move. Napoli are seeking to do just that.

Aurelio de Laurentiis’ side have struggled with the full-back position in recent years. Faouzi Ghoulam is perpetually injured while Elseid Hysaj has fallen out of favour.

In Dalot, they could get themselves a player who is capable of playing on either flank. At just 21, he is also likely to be a long-term option for the Italians.

According to the report, the relationship between agent Gabriele Giuffrida and Joel Glazer is said to be cordial. Whether this will help Napoli get a discount remains to be seen.

Diogo Dalot is likely to return to Manchester United once his loan spell at AC Milan ends.
Dalot has been a peripheral player at United

Given Dalot’s lack of impact at United, it is difficult to see him work his way back into contention. A parting of the ways might be the best solution for all parties.

It was reported earlier this month that United are seeking €20million for the player’s services. Whether they are willing to lower the price to get a deal done remains to be seen.
