Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation for Manchester United since signing for the club
Former Premier League striker Dean Ashton heaped praise on Bruno Fernandes and the impact the Portuguese has had at Manchester United.
Fernandes signed for the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon almost a year back and has been our best player.
The 26-year-old hit the ground running at Old Trafford and this season has continued his progress under Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
Fernandes has 14 goals in the Premier League and Champions League this season, with eight assists too.
He has helped us charge up the league table but things haven’t been all that rosy in Europe. We exited the Champions League and some of our performances have been questioned.
Ashton provided a glowing review of Fernandes on TalkSport (h/t Daily Star) and claimed that the Portugal international didn’t feel out of place despite coming to such a big club:
“They didn’t realise just what came with playing for a club like Manchester United. Well he has walked in there as if they are lucky to have him!
“He’s gone in there with that sort of confidence as if to say, ‘you have been waiting for me and now I am going to show you why.’”
Saving the gaffer’s job
Solskjaer has had his ups and downs at United but we are now challenging Liverpool for the title.
We can tie Liverpool at the top of the table if we win our game and Ashton believes that Fernandes’ performances have ensured that the gaffer keeps his job:
“He’s played 29 times in the Premier League for Manchester United, he has had 32 goal involvements – 18 goals and 14 assists. Another part to a top player that I always look at is how they improve everybody else.
“Would Ole still be in the job without Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United? No, he wouldn’t.”
While suggesting that Fernandes is the only one keeping Solskjaer at United is a bit of a stretch, there is no doubting the quality of the Portuguese star.

Marcus Rashford has also done a great job for us under Solskjaer but Fernandes is the one to keep an eye on.
He has been electric since coming to the club and should he continue playing in the same vein of form, we could have something big to celebrate come the end of the season.
