Manchester United fans react as Leicester City score late to steal a point
Manchester United faced Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday. A win would have seen the Red Devils climb to second and within 2 points of league leaders Liverpool.
Unfortunately, that was not to be, as United drew 2-2 at the King Power stadium. The game got off to a great start as some great play by Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes put Marcus Rashford through on goal.
The Englishman was unmarked and on hand to finish neatly inside the box and put United 1-0 in front in the 23rd minute. Fernandes was guilty of losing the ball in midfield that gave Leicester a chance to shoot.
Harvey Barnes made no mistake as he slotted in a left-footed strike from outside the box to make it 1-1 in the 31st minute. The game was an evenly fought contest until United carved open a chance with 11 minutes left.
Edinson Cavani found Bruno Fernandes with a deft pass, and the Portuguese finished from a tight angle to make 2-1. It looked like it was to enough for United to level the 11 away league-wins record.
Not meant to be…
Before this, United had won 10 league games on the road, a record only bettered by Chelsea in 2008 and Manchester City in 2017. (h/t PremierLeague.com)
That was not to be, as United conceded while trying to sit back and defend their lead. Jamie Vardy was at the end of a fizzed-in cross in the 85th minute, which deflected off Axel Tuanzebe to hand the Foxes a draw.
Fans were left frustrated after the result and they let their feelings know on Twitter.
