Transfer News: Tottenham and Leicester City enter the fray for Jesse Lingard

According to transfer news from Caught Offside, Tottenham and Leicester City have now registered their interest in Jesse Lingard. While West Ham were hoping to turn Lingard’s loan into a permanent deal, they have been joined by two of their Premier League rivals who also want the rejuvenated England star.

The 28-year-old joined the Hammers on loan last January. Since then he has set the field on fire by producing a tally of six goals and four assists in just eight games. This has not just seen his reputation skyrocket but also saw him return to the England setup – a thought that appeared impossible just three months ago.

Lingard’s contract at United runs until the end of next summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strike while the iron is hot and sell Lingard when his stock is at a high.

The 28-year-old was at best a bit-part player under the Norwegian at Old Trafford. Whether it is Solskjaer’s inability to get the best out of him or Moyes’ experience, Lingard is a different beast at West Ham.

That has now attracted the attention of Spurs and Leicester who also want the United academy graduate. United will have the pick of their sides to choose when it comes to letting go of Lingard because there’s not really any place for him back at Old Trafford.

It was recently reported that West Ham are willing to do ‘what it takes’ to sign Lingard permanently. However, that has got a whole lot harder now with the likes of Spurs and Leicester coming into the fray.
