Reputed pundit claims Man United might not go big in January

Duncan Castles doubts Manchester United will go big in January

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express), Duncan Castles believes Manchester United may not dip significantly into the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have put together an excellent run of form that has seen them enter the conversation of Premier League contenders.

Getting in the right players in January could help aid our attempt to secure a first league title since 2013. However, it would appear that there is no guarantee Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed the funds he needs.

Bringing in a game-changing player in January is not something new for United. After all, the signing of Bruno Fernandes at the beginning of this year has been an unqualified success.

The Portuguese star’s performances have however done little to convince United to go big once again. The club believes it is a difficult market to complete deals in and will make a move only if the situation presents itself.

“They’re conscious that January is difficult to do these deals and they’re saying the only way we will do something is if the deal presents itself at the right price in this window.”

A number of players have been linked with United going into the new year. The likes of David Alaba and Moises Caicedo continue to do the rounds while Amad Traore is set to complete his Old Trafford switch in January.

While United’s recent upturn in form could indicate at everything being fine, there are still areas in the squad that needs to be assessed. The club should do all they can to push through a deal if needed.

As we have seen with Fernandes, there is value in the market if we seek to find it. It could make all the difference as to where we end up come to the end of the season.
