£47million Man United star wins coveted award within a year of joining the club

Bruno Fernandes wins Manchester United Fans Player of the Year award

A report by Manchester Evening News confirms that Bruno Fernandes has won the newly launched Manchester United Fans’ Player of the Year award.

The award, launched by Reach plc, allowed fans of each club to vote for their favourite player in the 2020 calendar year.

The voting was open to fans of all the Premier League clubs, and the result is based solely on the opinion of the fans.

Portuguese maestro Bruno Fernandes won the Fans’ Player of the Year award for Manchester United.

He finished ahead of Marcus Rashford, who came second in the list. Young English forward Mason Greenwood was 3rd, while French striker Anthony Martial made up the top 4.

The 26-year-old Fernandes was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2020 for a fee of around £47million. He has gone on to have an instant impact at the club and already has 23 goals to his name.

Last season, he helped the club finish third in the Premier League and helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Red Devils are 3rd in the Premier League table, and that is majorly because of Fernandes.

United went within 5 points of league leaders Liverpool after their 6-2 win against Leeds United on Sunday, in which the Portuguese scored twice and assisted once.

Apart from an award for each club, there is also a national award which was between players of all clubs. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was crowned the winner of the award, while Rashford finished third.

The English winger’s off-the-field charity work has not gone unnoticed throughout the country. The 23-year-old has made the government do several U-turns over the provision of free meals to vulnerable children in the UK.
