Solskjaer provides injury update on two key Man United stars before Everton Clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives injury update on Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw

Speaking in an interview (h/t MEN) before their game on Wednesday, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an injury update on Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay.

Both Shaw and McTominay picked up injuries during United’s 6-2 win against Leeds United on Sunday. The Scottish midfielder netted a brace inside the first 3 minutes of the game.

McTominay, who scored his first league goals since March, also assisted Daniel James’ goal to make it 5-1 but was forced off with a groin strain in the final minutes of the game.

With Solskjaer having made all 3 substitutes already, United played the last few minutes with 10-men. Another United player who suffered an injury during the match was left-back Luke Shaw.

The Englishman already reported an hour late to the team’s hotel before the match due to being ill and passed his fitness on the morning of the match itself. (h/t MEN)

Shaw had to come off before half-time due to illness and was replaced by Alex Telles. United had a comfortable outing against Marcelo Bielsa’s side, but the injury problems took some joy away from the important win.

Solskjaer clarified about the injuries after the game, and said that both players are a doubt for United’s clash against Everton.

“Luke has been ill for a few days and only passed fit this morning. Didn’t train yesterday. Scott it seems like a groin issue, so I don’t know.”

McTominay might have been rested for the game against the Toffees anyway, but the injury is concerning nonetheless.
