Bruno Fernandes has revealed why he gave the 2nd penalty to Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford

Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes struck early to give the team a 1-0 lead over Everton. The goal came thanks to a penalty that was won by 19-year-old Alejandro Garnacho.

It didn’t take the team long to double up as the Argentine won another penalty during the first half. However, unlike the first the second penalty was taken by Marcus Rashford. Here’s what the skipper had to say about his decision to give Rashford the penalty. (h/t BBC)

“I felt I had my one, Rashy could get his goal from the penalty.”

He added that when he asked Rashford he replied with confidence. Erik ten Hag also trusts the Manchester-born star to take penalties. The Red Devils were wasteful with their chances tonight but got the result they needed.

They are now eight points behind the Premier League top four. Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur will be playing each other tomorrow. For the sake of Ten Hag’s UCL hopes the game can’t end in a draw.

As long as one team ends up dropping three points, Manchester United can take advantage and close the gap between the top four. The Lilywhites are sitting in fifth, they have two games in hand and are three points ahead of United.

Manchester United will need to aim for a win in every game that they play from now until the end of the season. Doing so is the only way for the team to make something out of this season.
