Luke Shaw calls current Manchester United squad the most confident he has played in
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has termed the current squad the most confident during his time at the club.
The 24-year-old signed for the Red Devils in what was then the highest fee paid for a teenager. He has since played 137 times for the club.
Shaw has so far played under three different managers. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has helped the club regain its identity and has brought back pride amongst those in red.
Currently on a 16-game unbeaten run, we are pushing for a top-four finish, while also competing on two other fronts. It is a far cry from the struggles we faced since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.
“Over the past years, it hasn’t always been the most exciting and we have not always played as well as I feel like we are at the moment – especially in my time here.”
Shaw credits the confidence coursing through the squad as a major contributing factor to the upturn in fortunes.
“The confidence is so high and we are going into games now full of belief.”
It was evident in our win over Bournemouth. Having trailed against the Cherries, we fought back to win the match comfortably.
At a smaller level, Shaw’s form too is a testament to the feeling of positivity at the club. Having struggled for both fitness and form under Jose Mourinho, the defender is now a different player.
He has made 31 appearances for the club while scoring once and assisting three more this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
