Twitter reacts as Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling extend Serie-A stay

Manchester United confirmed on their official site that veterans Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling have extended their loans in Serie A.

The duo will now stay in Italy until the end of the current campaign. It is currently scheduled to last until the beginning of August due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Neither of them could have featured for United this season even if they had returned. It makes sense for them to stay in Italy.

The duo has experienced varied success in Serie A. While Smalling has enjoyed a renaissance at Roma, Sanchez has struggled with form and fitness at Inter Milan.

Alexis Sanchez has failed to impress at Inter Milan

Neither Smalling not Sanchez is a key player for us and the club will do well to sell them in the summer.

The latter, in particular, has been nothing short of a disaster and the transfer is probably one of the biggest failures in recent times.

A number of United fans took to Twitter to react to the news. Let us take a look at a few of them below.
