Juventus enter the race for Manchester United target Ferran Torres
According to Onda Cero (h/t Daily Mail), Juventus have entered the race for Manchester United target Ferran Torres.
The 20-year-old is an exciting prospect and has impressed for Valencia. Predominantly a right-winger, he has amassed 6 goals and 7 assists in 40 games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Spanish Under-21 star is a versatile attacker who can play anywhere along the front line. Torres came through the youth ranks at Valencia before making his first-team bow in 2017. He has since scored 9 goals and 11 assists in 93 appearances for Los Ches.
According to the report, Juventus are already in talks with the player’s representatives. Torres’ contract at the Mestalla expires in 2021 and he has a release clause worth £87million.
Valencia are aware that the youngster can leave on a free transfer next season if an extension cannot be agreed on. Given the choice, they would rather sell him for cheap this summer than eventually lose him for nothing.
Valencia could miss out on qualifying for Europe if they do not significantly improve their results. With football clubs adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the loss of continental revenue does not make for good reading.
Torres has shown he has the ability to perform at the highest level. He has scored twice and assisted two more in the Champions League. The youngster gave a stellar performance in the thrilling 3-4 loss to Atalanta in the round of 16 second leg. (h/t Transfermarkt)

United have done well in recent windows as they attempt to create a competitive squad. The signings of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James brought solidity in the summer, while the likes of Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes have added much-needed star power.
It is debatable if Torres is worth his release clause. However United will do well to make a bid for a youngster, who clearly has the ability to become a leading Wideman.
Whether we will throw our hat into the ring remains to be seen.
