Manchester United were looking to sign him in the summer confirms Barcelona superstar

Barcelona superstar Ronald Araujo confirms that he was aware of Manchester United’s interest in him during the summer. The team has lately been linked to almost every star in the transfer market.

It seems like there is not a single position on Erik Ten Hag’s team that is functioning as it’s supposed to. Ronald Araujo is just another name on the list that the team was interested in bringing in during the summer.

However, the team later went on to sign Jonny Evans who returned to Old Trafford almost a decade after his first stint. The team would have been better off by signing a young and promising defender.

Let’s have a look at what the Barcelona superstar had to say about the situation. (h\t Manchester Evening News)

“There are always rumours that appear in all markets. There was talk in the summer about Manchester United, but I am focused on Barca. And I will always give one hundred percent.”

Araujo has been a pivotal part of Xavi Hernandez’s Barca and often reminds people of club legend Javier Mascherano, who was loved by his peers for his willingness to always give his best.

How Manchester United went from potentially landing Araujo to settling for Jonny Evans is still unanswered. However, it would’ve been impossible anyway since the player has his sights set on a future with the Catalan club.

According to reports, The Red Devils have now turned their attention towards Giorgio Scalvini of Atlanta BC. However, they might not want to pay £51M for an unproven talent.

The summer transfer window will be a big opportunity for Erik Ten Hag. He will finally (once again) get the chance to bolster all of the team’s weak areas.

Hopefully, the new players who will arrive during the summer will turn out to be better than other signings like Antony, who by the way is still yet to record even a single goal or assist for the team.
