As reported by ESPN, Manchester United will have to pay a total of €80m for Barcelona superstar Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan defender has garnered interest from both Bayern Munich and the Red Devils.

It has also been reported that Barcelona would be receptive to a deal as the team has had to deal with several FFP issues. However, Araujo himself is not open to taking a leave from Camp Nou this January.

We could see Manchester United go after the player during the summer. It has already been made clear that the Red Devils are going to spend big this summer and Araujo could be on their shopping list.

The Red Devils have had tough luck with their defenders this season. On one hand, they have Raphael Varane whose future with the team is still unclear and could come to an end soon.

Then there is Lisandro Martinez whose health has been a major concern. The team will have to make some big adjustments to their defence during the summer. Otherwise, their failures from this season might end up being repeated.

Manchester United also need to bolster their middle line and their attacking line during the summer. We could see the team bring in a new player at each position with how desperate they are at the moment.
