Manchester United might use the same tactics used for Weghorst signing as they look to seal the deal with Bundesliga forward
Manchester United have turned their eyes towards the Bundesliga as they look to bolster their attacking line in January. The team has been wary of violating any Financial Fair Play policies and is not looking to splurge during the winter.
This will disappoint a lot of people who have been counting on the team to go all out this winter. It may look like they are going to be dormant for the most part but that’s not how things will play out at Old Trafford.
Now that money is tight, the Red Devils are looking to bring in players on loan. According to German publication BILD, the team has wasted no time and are already targeting Bundesliga star, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The team will be looking at the likes of Timo Werner and 34-year-old Choupo-Moting as they look to end their goal-scoring struggles. If a deal is done for either it will most likely be a short-term loan.
The team is no stranger to making emergency signings when they’ve been short on cash. Wout Werghorst in 2023 and Odio Ighalo in 2020 are two such players that Manchester United have previously signed on loan to make up for their deficiencies.
Chopo-Mouting has made 19 appearances for Bayern Munich this season and has contributed with three goals (Transfermarkt). Timo Werner on the other hand has scored two goals in 14 (Transfermarkt).

Not a lot of fans will be happy if the team ultimately decides to sign 34-year-old Choupo-Moting. The Old Trafford management is surely not serious about making a top 4 Premier League finish if these are the kind of transfers they’re linked to.
