Former Dutch international player Ruud Gullit believes Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund can’t be the sole goal-poacher

According to the Mirror, former Dutch player Ruud Gullit believes that Rasmus Hojlund is not the solution for Manchester United to score goals on a daily basis.

The twenty-year-old joined from Atalanta in the summer and since then he has gone for six straight Premier League matches without scoring a goal. On Saturday, we defeated Sheffield United 2-1, although he failed to score. After Ollie McBurnie’s equaliser, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot scored to give Erik ten Hag’s team a crucial three points.

Ruud Gullit says:

“I still think you have to get your striker on the scoresheet.”

Hojlund has scored three goals in two Champions League games this season, despite not finding the back of the net in the Premier League. He is expected to start up front for United on Tuesday when we play Copenhagen.

However, Hojlund’s performance turned out to be yet another frustrating one as he was replaced by Anthony Martial with the scores tied after just two shots. His greatest opportunity came shortly before the break when he moved into some space on the edge of the six-yard box, but Wes Foderingham stopped his shot.

Many opponents and pundits were sceptical of Hojlund because of his lack of experience and the notion that he would be a long-term project. The Danish striker has demonstrated that he is prepared to support United right away. He quickly won everyone over by displaying amazing enthusiasm, drive, traits, and work ethic up front.

Hojlund was acquired by United from Serie A team Atalanta in a summer transfer worth £72 million. Ten Hag gave the striker priority given the Red Devils’ poor performance in front of goal the previous campaign. When it came to the most goals scored by a team in the Premier League last season, the Red Devils were eighth.

But what Gullit says makes a lot of sense. He can’t be the only player scoring goals. Other players like Marcus Rashford, Antony and Garnacho all need to step up. Their contribution to scoring goals is equally important. We hope that all the attackers in the squad play an important role in the upcoming games.
