Villarreal are looking to target Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri.
La Liga side Villarreal are actively considering a move to test Manchester United’s resolve over young winger Facundo Pellistri. The 21-year-old is currently fulfilling his duties for the Uruguay national team in October’s international break.
The Uruguayan international has found it hard to get sufficient game-time at United this season, even though, the Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is struggling with a shortage of options in the wing positions.
Ten Hag had a fallout with winger Jadon Sancho earlier this season and Antony recently returned from a leave of absence.
The United boss deployed Bruno Fernandes on the right wing and the decision received criticism from many fans and football pundits. Many people find Ten Hag’s decision baffling because the United captain delivers his best performances when played centrally.
Pellistri is a natural winger available and he has shown enough maturity to etch his name in the Uruguayan squad. The Uruguay international is an excellent dribbler with close control, pace, and agility to work in close and open spaces.
The 21-year-old is versatile and capable of playing in both flanks according to the requirements of his team. Pellistri is tactically very mature for his age and takes a good position for his teammate to find him.
The 21-year-old has some raw abilities that will improve with more experience and coaching. Pellistri has to work on becoming a more constant creative outlet for his team. The Uruguayan has a lot to improve with his passing and decision-making on the ball.
Gol Digital (h/t Manchester Evening News) report that Villarreal want to replace their highly-coveted star, Yeremy Pino, with Pellistri. The Spanish side can give the young Uruguayan regular football that he desperately needs to develop his immense talent.

Ten Hag has a decision to make if Villarreal act upon their interest as the Dutchman does rate the youngster highly. However, the young player requires consistent playing time and has not gained the trust of becoming a regular starter so far. We await to see if United will engage in negotiations for their talented Uruguayan but anticipate that they will command a high asking price.
