Jadon Sancho’s departure looks imminent after his spat with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag
According to ESPN, there is a growing concern at Manchester United regarding Jadon Sancho’s future at Old Trafford. It appears that time is running out for him to apologize to Erik ten Hag.
Sancho, who made a £73 million move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, is currently under contract until at least 2026. The club is understandably worried about the financial implications of facilitating his departure if a decision is made to do so in January.
The primary reason for Sancho’s arrival at the club was to strengthen the team’s attacking capabilities. It seems that United is open to reducing Sancho’s hefty weekly salary in order to loan him out during the second half of the season. This presents a favourable opportunity for Sancho to gain some much-needed playing time.
Nevertheless, there remains a glimmer of hope that Erik ten Hag might consider reintegrating Sancho into the team. However, it’s widely recognized within the club that an apology received now, more than a month after his social media post, wouldn’t carry the same weight as one offered during the initial discussions with Ten Hag following the game against Arsenal.
From Sancho’s perspective, accepting a pay cut could be a tough pill to swallow. A disastrous short-term stint elsewhere would further diminish his value, potentially resulting in a significant loss on the money that United invested to acquire him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Despite the simplicity of issuing an apology to change the entire scenario, Sancho seems hesitant to do so. The urgency for United to find the back of the net is greater than ever.
Marcus Rashford’s form has declined this season, and Antony was absent for an extended period to address personal issues. These setbacks have adversely affected United’s recent results. Furthermore, an injury crisis has left the left-back position vacant, with Amrabat stepping in to fill the void.
