Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies hits back at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after proving him wrong.
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies recently responded to the criticism made by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. United faced Bayern in the opening Champions League Group A fixture where the Red Devils lost the game 4-3.
Ten Hag pointed out Davies’ defensive ability and said that Facundo Pellistri could exploit that vulnerability in Bayern’s defence.
Davies has been a consistent performer for Bayern while showcasing his all-round abilities in both offensive and defensive play. The Canada International has featured in 164 games for the German giants while contributing eight goals and 28 assists.

The 22-year-old told ESPN (h/t Mirror) that he believes the United manager was just motivating his own players. He said:
“I think as a coach, he said it to motivate his players and I’m not sure what he saw but I’m not here to say he was wrong. I do have a lot of good defensive ability and I showed that during the game.”
Davies succeeded David Alaba who was one of the most important players for Bayern during his tenure at Germany. We think Ten Hag was aware of the Canadian’s ability and wanted to get a mental advantage over the defender.
Ten Hag’s words did not make any impact on the defender’s performance if the Dutchman was attempting some mind games. United looked defensively vulnerable themselves and Andre Onana’s howler for the first Bayern goal only added to their misery.

The Red Devils are facing an injury crisis and subsequently, inconsistent performances so far this season. United have lost six out of the 11 games they have played in all competitions.
