Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez sent a message of respect to Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana after the United’s win against Brentford. Onana used the social media platform Instagram to celebrate the win with Sanchez replying to the post with courtesy.
The Red Devils’ new goalkeeper played with Sanchez during their time together at Eredivisie giants Ajax. The duo played opposite to each other during the second Champions League Group A game which the Turkish side won 2-3.
Onana stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after a clumsy pass that led to Casemiro’s sending-off. Whereas, Sanchez played a crucial role in shoring up Galatasaray’s defense after his club took the lead.
The Cameroon International made another howler during the Premier League game against Brentford. Onana was beaten easily by Mathias Jensen which helped the Bees take the first-half lead. Scott McTominay came as a late savior for the Red Devils and his goalkeeper to get a memorable comeback win.
Onana used his Instagram platform (h/t Manchester Evening News) to acknowledge the nightmare both he and the Manchester giant have faced. However, Sanchez gave a nod of admiration towards his former teammate. He wrote:
“Big brother,” followed by a clapping hands emoji.
United signed Onana from Seria A side Inter Milan during the summer transfer window. The Cameroonian succeeded United legend David De Gea who left the club after a 12-year stint during the summer.
The Red Devils have lost six out of 11 games played this season in all competitions. The most visible reason for these defeats stems from the defensive vulnerability and poor performances from Onana.
The 27-year-old was lucky in his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers when he fouled the opponent inside his box. The referee decided to give what seemed like a blatant foul, in United’s favor.
Onana has made three errors that have actually led to the goal and two came during the Champions League games.

The Cameroonian is far better than what he has shown so far this season. Onana played a pivotal role in helping Inter reach the Champions League finals last season. We think Onana’s form is critical for the Red Devils to qualify for the Champions League knock-out stages. The United goalkeeper will meet his former teammate when United plays Galatasaray in the return fixture on 29th November.
