Sergio Reguilon speaks on Erik ten Hag’s expectations of him at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has praised Sergio Reguilon for integrating into Manchester United quickly despite the difficult circumstances, and the player has also taken steps to strengthen his relationship with the boss.

On the final day of the transfer window, Reguilon agreed to a season-long loan agreement with United after being considered in the closing days of the window as an urgent solution to cover the gap at left-back.

According to the club media (h/t Manchester Evening News) Sergio Reguilon outlined to club media what Erik ten Hag is expecting of him during his loan stint at Old Trafford:

“He wanted me to come and I wanted to come here too. It was all very easy. Now I am here and we have been speaking in training about what he wants from his left-back. I think we share the same philosophy. He likes hard workers and I love working hard, I think we’re on exactly the same page.”

Luke Shaw will be sidelined for a number of weeks with a muscular problem, according to a confirmation from Ten Hag at the end of August, while Tyrell Malacia has yet to play this season.

Ten Hag is already short-off left backs and both Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka are out with injury. Just to fulfil these slots, Reguilon was bought in. It’s just wonderful how quickly he is adapting to this new environment.

It’s true that he has previous experience in this highly competitive league, but we all need to recognize how it must have felt for him to play for a new team and adapt to their tactics and style of play.
