Manchester United are ready to battle Arsenal for the signature of AC Milan forward Rafael Leao during the summer window

Both Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal are targeting AC Milan forward Rafael Leao for the upcoming summer window. Leao has played an important role for Milan this season as they are currently second in the Serie A table.

Milan are 14 points behind a very consistently dominant Inter Milan side that has only suffered one loss this season. Standing at 1.88 metres, Leao has a dominant presence in the field despite relying more on his agility and pace.

The 24-year-old makes fantastic off-the-ball movements to provide an outlet for his playmakers or drag the opponents to create space. He has fantastic stamina and power to shrug off duels, making constant run through the flanks or within the channels.

The Portugal international has good close control and fantastic dribbling ability which he uses regularly at the left flank. He dominantly plays as a left winger, capable of cutting inside or running down the flanks to stretch the play.

Leao’s passing and end product are as good as his ability to dribble past opponents, making him a constant threat. The 24-year-old has made 38 appearances for Milan in all competitions, contributing with 12 goals and 12 assists this season.

Fichajes reported that United are willing to battle Arsenal to sign Leao from Milan during the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the valuation of 145 million euros poses a big obstacle for the Premier League clubs despite their high-spending capabilities.

United’s attacking department has struggled to provide consistent threats and contributions this season. The poor attacking threat played a key role in the Red Devils’ miserable campaign from the beginning of the season.

Marcus Rashford failed to recreate his last season’s form while Anthony Martial has struggled with both form and inconsistencies. Furthermore, Antony has failed to live up to his high price tag while Hojlund is still a work in progress.
