Italian outfit Fiorentina have already received a bid from the English giants for Sofyan Amrabat

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Manchester United have already submitted a bid for Fiorentina defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Red Devils are moving quickly in the ongoing summer transfer window and have set their sights on their next target.

The Moroccan midfielder has been on the club’s wish list for a long time now. Erik ten Hag has prior working experience with Amrabat, working with the midfielder during his breakthrough period at FC Utrecht.

Their professional relationship remains intact, and they continue to maintain a positive rapport.

Amrabat, who showcased his talent during Morocco’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, is valued at approximately £30 million (€35m).

At 26 years old, he is considered an improvement over Scott McTominay, who served as a backup to Casemiro in the holding role during the last season.

Fiorentina have remained firm on their asking price, dissuading potential interested parties from making a move.

However, thanks to Ten Hag’s active involvement, the situation has seen a significant shift. United have been progressively raising their offer in an effort to come closer to the valuation set by the Serie A club.

Initially, the African ace was a target for Spanish giants Barcelona during the January transfer window. However, due to the financial challenges the club was facing at that time, the deal could not be finalised.

Recently, the Blaugrana sealed the signing of Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer, closing the door on their pursuit of Amrabat. This development has left United with an opportunity to pursue the talented player.

However, the Red Devils have also been facing financial challenges of their own. As a result, the club will only consider pursuing the defensive midfielder once they manage to sell players and boost their transfer budget.

The English giants have made surplus midfielders such as Donny van de Beek and Fred available for sale. Additionally, they may also consider suitable offers for McTominay.

Talented young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has suffered an unfortunate injury that will keep him sidelined until the end of September.

This news comes as a significant disappointment to fans who witnessed his outstanding performances during pre-season friendlies. This will further push the club to secure a new midfielder to bolster their squad in light of Mainoo’s setback.

If the transfer for Amrabat materialises, it would align with the pattern of manager Ten Hag reuniting with players he has previously managed. This trend reflects his influence in shaping the club’s transfer decisions.

Amrabat is considered a perfect replacement for Casemiro, given his impressive skills and versatility. He can also operate in a more advanced midfield role, showcasing exceptional technical abilities and a keen eye for making crucial passes.

The club is shifting away from solely enticing players with financial incentives and instead aiming to attract those who genuinely desire to represent the team under Ten Hag’s leadership.
