Andre Onana signing paves the way for Dean Henderson to exit Manchester United
Manchester United have officially unveiled the signing of Andre Onana, which will open the door for the exit of Dean Henderson this summer, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
The Cameroonian’s addition to the team will pave the way for the England international’s departure from the Red Devils in the ongoing transfer window. Nottingham Forest look like his likely destination.
In the 2022/23 term, the 26-year-old was on loan at the Tricky Trees. Now, the Old Trafford side are already in discussions with the West Bridgford-based club to sell the shot-stopper.
Henderson made his way through the youth ranks at Man United. Subsequently, the goalkeeper spent a number of years out on loan. However, it was the English national’s performances at Sheffield United that caught a lot of people’s attention.
After that, the shot-stopper was recalled and given an opportunity at the Red Devils. The 26-year-old shared minutes in between the sticks with David de Gea in the 2020/21 term.
However, the Spaniard was able to regain his number one spot, leaving Henderson on the bench. Last summer, the English national decided to join Forest and was a key player for them up until his injury in January.
Last season, De Gea was the first choice for Erik ten Hag at Man United. However, the 32-year-old is no longer associated with the club after his contract expired last month.
As a result, we were left with Tom Heaton and Henderson as the only two established goalkeepers in our ranks. But now, the Red Devils have added Onana to their ranks.

Therefore, it looks difficult for the 26-year-old to get regular game time at the Old Trafford side next season. Thus, it is wise for the club to cash in on him.
