Manchester United star Jadon Sancho is being considered by his former club for a loan move this summer

According to Sky Germany (h/t the Sun Live), Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is again being linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The English star was highly sought after in the transfer market during 2020 and 2021, due to his impressive record of 114 goal contributions in 137 matches for Dortmund.

United successfully defeated competition from several European clubs and secured Sancho’s signing. However, the player has struggled to adjust to life in England and has faced challenges in his performances.

Since joining the Red Devils, Sancho has contributed 12 goals and six assists in 79 games. He faced a period of absence due to physical and mental issues.

Despite this, the 23-year-old managed to make 41 appearances for the team under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, featuring in various competitions last season.

However, Man United are willing to consider the sale of Sancho this summer, as the player has been unable to replicate his impressive form from his time in Germany.

Despite this, the 23-year-old still has a contract with the Red Devils until 2026, with the option for an additional year, giving the club the leverage to demand a substantial fee for his departure.

The Daily Star recently revealed that Borussia Dortmund reached out to United with a proposal for a loan deal. However, the English champions swiftly rejected the offer from the German club.

The Red Devils have no intention of allowing their winger to leave on a temporary basis. The club will only consider permanent offers for Sancho, demanding a minimum of £45m.

However, in a major turn of events, German outlet BILD states that Dortmund did not contact United regarding a loan deal for Sancho.

Sports director Sebastian Kehl has firmly stated that the club has no intentions of pursuing a winger this summer, as their priorities lie in different positions.

Surprisingly, Dortmund have been linked with several United players, like Anthony Elanga and Hannibal Mejbri. However, no official bid has been made for both players.

Sancho’s urgency to perform at Old Trafford

Last season, Sancho frequently played on the left side of the Man United attack when Marcus Rashford operated as the central forward. However, if the Red Devils sign a new number nine during the summer, Rashford is expected to revert to a wide role.

Alejandro Garnacho has become an important part of Ten Hag’s set-up, while Antony, who previously played under the Dutch boss at Ajax, is United’s preferred choice on the right flank.

Hence, there is already huge competition at the flanks at Old Trafford, and the manager will not be afraid to bench Sancho if he doesn’t improve his form.

Meanwhile, Sancho’s transfer would represent a significant decline in a career that held great promise. Despite fans retaining belief in the young player, there are doubts about whether he possesses the mental fortitude to thrive in the Premier League.

Manager Ten Hag prioritises performance and does not tolerate underperforming players within the team. We have seen that with Harry Maguire and to some extent, Sancho.

As the Red Devils prepare for increased expectations and upcoming Champions League matches, it is understandable that the club supports their new manager.

It is astonishing to witness the underwhelming performance of a player like Sancho, for whom the Red Devils ran behind his signature for two years and paid a huge fee to acquire him from Dortmund.

The winger appears lacking in confidence, sloppy with the ball, avoids physical challenges, and shows a reluctance to shoot or take on opponents. We believe that the player possesses significant potential and has yet to reach the pinnacle of his career.

Ten Hag will show patience, but for how long? The English star would need to show his true worth in the upcoming season or risk facing the axe in the future.

Time is running out for Sancho, and he needs to act now.
