David de Gea appears to hit out at Man United’s ‘circus’ with yet another cryptic emoji tweet

David de Gea has sparked curiosity about his potential departure from Manchester United by sharing a juggling emoji on his Twitter feed.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with the club expired at the end of June after they decided against offering him a new deal.

This marked the end of De Gea’s 12-year tenure at Old Trafford. Man United’s coach, Erik ten Hag, is considering a potential replacement in the form of Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.

De Gea’s recent tweet has left many fans puzzled and engaged in speculation regarding its meaning.

Some supporters believe that the tweet could indicate an imminent return to Old Trafford, considering the Spaniard’s status as the previous season’s Golden Glove winner.

The veteran shot-stopper has been sharing cryptic social media posts in recent weeks, with his latest message adding to the speculation surrounding his contract situation.

In late June, he posted a yawning emoji, seemingly referring to his ongoing contract saga. Reports emerged last month that a new contract was being negotiated, aiming to reduce De Gea’s weekly wage of £375,000.

However, the club decided to track back and present another contract with reduced wages. Seven days have passed since the Spaniard’s contract with United expired, leaving him without a club.

The players have also returned to pre-season training with no indications about the veteran keeper’s presence. In the meantime, the Red Devils have been actively exploring potential replacements, including recent target Zion Suzuki.

Other options being considered by the club include Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp. The club’s staff has also identified alternative options within a similar price range.

However, the talks with Inter Milan’s Onana are progressing well, and there are chances that the club could make the Cameroonian shot-stopper their new first-choice keeper.

Talking about De Gea, the Spaniard is likely aware of the impact his social media posts will have, given the popularity of the platform.

Given the reports of United initially offering him a contract and then retracting it, De Gea may be referencing the club’s clumsy way of handling his situation.

Until an official announcement is made regarding his future, fans will remain uncertain about the true state of affairs concerning the longest-serving player at the club.

However, it is evident that Ten Hag is actively seeking a new first-choice keeper. Whether De Gea remains at Old Trafford or not, there will be no further guarantees that he will be the top choice in Manchester next season.
