Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat agrees personal terms with Manchester United
Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat regarding a move this summer, according to RAI Sport via Football Italia (h/t Manchester Evening News).
As things stand, the midfielder is expected to leave the Florence-based club in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, a number of other top teams have him on their radar as well.
But the Red Devils have offered the Morocco international double his current salary to make a switch a reality. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be willing to spend at least €30 million on the 26-year-old.
United are on the verge of signing Mason Mount from Chelsea. We are set to pay the Blues £60 million to acquire his services. That is almost half of our initial summer budget.
Therefore, bolstering the middle of the park further will have to wait. First, the Red Devils should focus and prioritise bringing in a new number one goalkeeper and a centre-forward.
Amrabat is a quality midfield enforcer. The Moroccan has come into his own over the last year. He shone for the Atlas Lions in the 2022 World Cup and was also instrumental to Fiorentina’s 2022/23 campaign.
At United, Casemiro has made the number six position his own. The Brazilian was signed last summer. Since then, the former Real Madrid star has added much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ engine room.
Unfortunately, we relied heavily on the brilliance of the 31-year-old last season. Without him, we struggled to get positive results. On the bench, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay were unable to provide adequate cover.

Thus, we could evidently do with more talent in depth in our ranks. However, whether the Old Trafford side will end up getting a hold of Amrabat’s signature remains to be seen.
