Arsenal lead Manchester United in Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby race
Premier League rivals Arsenal are leading Manchester United in the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby, according to L’Equipe (h/t The Sun).
The France international has been identified as a top target for the Gunners in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Red Devils, as well as Newcastle United, are also keeping tabs on the forward.
As things stand, the Bundesliga outfit are looking for £65 million to part ways with the 23-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in acquiring the services of their former player.
Diaby joined the Bay Arena side in the summer of 2019 from the Parc des Princes side. Since then, the French national has been a key player for the Black and Reds.
Over the years, the winger has gone from strength to strength and has developed an eye for goal. In the 2022/23 campaign, the 23-year-old found the back of the net 14 times and provided 11 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.
Arsenal were pipped to the league title by Manchester City last season. Mikel Arteta seemingly lacked depth in his squad. Bukayo Saka featured in every English top-flight fixture for the Gunners. The North London side have the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in their ranks.
On the other hand, United’s wings were mostly occupied by Marcus Rashford and Antony. The Brazil international had a somewhat mixed debut campaign. Erik ten Hag trusted the former Ajax forward on the left-hand side of the attack.
As for the England international, he ended last season as our leading goalscorer. The Dutch manager can also call upon Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho out wide.

Adding competition for Antony in the squad does not seem like a bad idea. However, what Leverkusen are demanding at the moment looks like a steep price for Diaby. Therefore, will the Red Devils opt to compete with Arsenal for the French national’s signature? Only time will tell.
