Bayer Leverkusen reject £30 million from Aston Villa for Manchester United target Moussa Diaby
Premier League rivals Aston Villa have had a £30 million bid rejected by Bayer Leverkusen for Manchester United target Moussa Diaby, according to the Daily Mail.
The Villans are prioritising getting a hold of the 24-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Bundesliga outfit value the player at around £50 million.
But the Lions are expected to make another approach for the France international. The Birmingham-based club were eyeing the forward in the summer of 2021 as well to replace Jack Grealish, who joined Manchester City back then.
However, it remains to be seen whether Unai Emery will get Diaby in the coming weeks. Apart from the Old Trafford side, the winger has previously attracted interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United as well. Also, he is keen on playing Champions League football.
The French national has been at Leverkusen since moving there from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019. Over the years, the 24-year-old has developed a keen eye for goals.
At Villa, Unai Emery has done an exceptional job since being appointed in the dugout. However, the Birmingham-based club finished seventh last season and will only be playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
As for United, Erik ten Hag has steadied the ship in Manchester. The Dutch manager got us our first trophy in six years as we lifted the Carabao Cup. In the PL, the Red Devils finished third in the table.
Therefore, the Old Trafford side will be in the Champions League next season. We could evidently use reinforcements in the forward line to compete with Antony and especially to bolster the number nine position.
