Erik ten Hag urges Manchester United to bounce back after Brighton & Hove Albion defeat
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has urged the Old Trafford side to bounce back after the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
The Red Devils took on the Seagulls away from home on Thursday (4 May). Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty in the final minutes of the fixture saw Roberto De Zerbi’s team snatching a 1-0 victory.
Speaking to the media via the club’s official website, Ten Hag wants the Old Trafford side to realise their mistakes and take them in their stride into the next game.
“We have to stay focused. We have everything in our hands, and we have to bounce back. We have to take the lessons from tonight and then we move on and we go to West Ham. Then we have to bounce back.”
United were unable to break the deadlock in the first half after creating multiple opportunities. We lacked the quality in the final third to find the back of the net.
Brighton also had a few chances in the first half. However, the Seagulls dominated the proceeding after the break and were on top of the Red Devils’ defence on multiple occasions, only to be denied by David de Gea.
However, the Spaniard was unable to save the spot-kick from Mac Allister. Luke Shaw gave away the penalty after a handball from a corner in the final minute of the stoppage time that was initially added on.
Ten Hag has once again faltered against the Amex Stadium side in the league. The gaffer went up against the East Sussex-based club in his first competitive match in charge of the Old Trafford side and lost 2-1.
As things stand, we are in fourth place in the table, four points ahead of Liverpool. But United also have a game in hand, which still gives us the upper hand to secure a Champions League spot. We will take on West Ham United next in the PL.

Therefore, the race to finish in the top four is still in our hands. However, any more slip-ups will give Jurgen Klopp’s team the chance to close the gap further.
