Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants the club to come to an agreement with Marcus Rashford over a new contract by next summer, according to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Dutch manager has put somewhat of a deadline on by when he would like the England international’s future to be sorted out. At the moment, the 25-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of next season (transfermarkt).

Rashford is yet to come to terms with the Old Trafford side. However, the forward is intent on staying with the Red Devils amidst interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

United are willing to allow the 25-year-old time and space to get the details sorted out. But Ten Hag expects the club to get things done before they go into the market in search of a striker.

The England international has been the Red Devils talisman in the current campaign. He has been relied upon by the former Ajax head coach to find the back of the net on a consistent basis at the Old Trafford side.

Rashford has turned things around drastically since last season when the winger struggled to have an impact. However, the arrival of Ten Hag has seen the academy graduate find his feet.

The England international has been sensational, especially since the 2022 World Cup. In Qatar, the 25-year-old scored some pivotal goals for Gareth Southgate’s team.

Rashford has continued his red-hot streak, finding the back of the net 11 times in the Premier League since the conclusion of the prestigious tournament in the Middle East.

It is seemingly prudent that we tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract soon. Having a player like the England international go into the final year of his deal is not something that is wise.
