Premier League rivals Everton have made a new contract for Jordan Pickford a ‘priority’ amidst ‘interest’ from Manchester United, according to The Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The 28-year-old’s existing deal with the Toffees expires in the summer of 2024. Since last season, the shot-stopper has been pivotal for the Goodison Park side and they are keen on keeping hold of him.

Apart from the Red Devils, Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the England international’s situation. Spurs currently have Hugo Lloris as their number one in between the sticks. The France international is backed up by Fraser Forster.

David de Gea is the current number one at the Old Trafford side. However, the Manchester-based club see Pickford as a possible replacement for the Spain international, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The English national signed for Everton in the summer of 2017 from Sunderland. Over the years, the 28-year-old has developed into a fine goalkeeper, polishing out some of the errors in his game.

However, the Toffees have not been in the best of situations in recent months. In the 2021/22 season, the Goodison Park side barely kept hold of their Premier League status, with their shot-stopper playing a key role for them.

In the current campaign, the Merseysiders are once again in a relegation battle. Pickford has been in fine form again. It remains to be seen whether Sean Dyche is able to help his team survive the drop.

The England international has also been the number one for the Three Lions in the last few major tournaments. His abilities on the ball are also admirable.
