Manchester United ‘in talks’ with Marcus Rashford over new contract
Manchester United are ‘in talks’ with Marcus Rashford over a new contract to extend his stay with the Red Devils, according to GiveMeSport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 25-year-old’s existing deal with the Old Trafford side expires in the summer of 2024. In the current campaign, the England international has been the Manchester-based club’s talisman.
In the 2016/17 season, the forward broke out in United’s senior side, having made his way through the club’s academy. Since then, the attacker has grown from strength to strength.
Over the years, Rashford has been a key player for the Red Devils. Under various managers, the 25-year-old has been an important part of the Old Trafford side’s teams.
Unfortunately, in the previous campaign, the England international had a drop off in his performances. The forward struggled to make an impact and looked short on confidence after losing the Euro 2020 final against Italy.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, Rashford lost his place at United. As a result, the likes of Anthony Elanga got an opportunity in the team. However, this term, the Sweden international has found game time hard to come by.
Erik ten Hag has managed to bring the best out of the 25-year-old. The England international has been the Red Devils’ talisman this season. Our other forwards, like Antony and Jadon Sancho, have not contributed to a considerable extent. On the other hand, Anthony Martial has been injury prone.
In the current campaign, the forward has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford side, scoring 21 goals and providing eight assists. He has shouldered the burden of our attack this term.

Rashford has made a case to be awarded a new contract with his recent performances. Hopefully, United will be able to secure the 25-year-old’s future at the club.
