Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford is happy at the Goodison Park side amidst links to Manchester United this summer, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror).

The England international has been tipped to be the Red Devils’ next number one and replace David de Gea. As things stand, the Spaniard is set to be a free agent at the end of this month. The 32-year-old is yet to agree fresh terms with the Old Trafford side.

To that end, the Merseyside outfit’s 29-year-old is on United’s radar in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Manchester-based club are yet to make a formal approach for the goalkeeper.

Everton signed Pickford from Sunderland in the summer of 2017. Since then, the English national has been ever-present in the Goodison Park side’s starting lineup.

The Toffees have relied heavily on the heroics of their shot-stopper over the last two seasons. In recent years, the Merseyside outfit have had to fight hard to survive the drop from the Premier League.

Gareth Southgate has also trusted the 29-year-old to be his first choice. The Three Lions have now gone into multiple major tournaments with the Blues’ goalkeeper in between the sticks.

At United, it looks like De Gea’s stint at the club is coming to an end. The Spaniard has made some clutch saves over the years for the Red Devils. Unfortunately, he has also been error-prone.

Under Erik ten Hag, the veteran goalkeeper has looked uncomfortable. The Dutch manager seemingly wants to play the ball out from the back. However, the 32-year-old leaves a lot to be desired in that regard.

Therefore, it is evident that the Old Trafford side could do with a shot-stopper who could complement Ten Hag’s style of play. Will Pickford be the one to take the number one shirt at the Manchester-based club? Only time will tell.
