Manchester United captain Harry Maguire a possible option to replace Milan Skriniar at Inter Milan
The Slovakia international is set to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of the campaign. As a result, the Serie A giants are looking for replacements, with the England international one of the defenders being eyed.
In the January transfer window, the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side were interested in a loan move for the 29-year-old. The Italian outfit also included an option to buy if they qualified for next season’s Champions League.
However, the Red Devils rejected Maguire’s departure. The Old Trafford side were keen on keeping a hold of the squad with a packed schedule to look forward to.
While the 29-year-old is keen on staying at United, his future at the Manchester-based club is uncertain. The Red Devils are looking to part ways with the defender in the upcoming transfer window.
Maguire’s current contract at the Old Trafford side runs until the summer of 2025. United will look for around €45 million to sell the centre-back.
Ashley Young was the most recent player to join Inter from the Red Devils. Romelu Lukaku was also bought by the Nerazzurri after his underwhelming spell in Manchester. The Belgian went on to win the Scudetto.
In the past, Chris Smalling also went to Italy after falling down the pecking order at the Old Trafford side. Since then, the 33-year-old has thrived in Serie A with Roma.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been Erik ten Hag’s preferred partnership in the backline. As a result, Maguire has become a bit-part player. Therefore, one could not blame the 29-year-old for wanting to experience a different challenge away from United.
