Manchester United star David de Gea feels the Red Devils “deserved” to drop points in the draw to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
The Old Trafford side visited Selhurst Park on Wednesday (18 January). We took the lead in the first half through Bruno Fernandes. However, Michael Olise’s stunning free-kick in stoppage time led to the two teams sharing the spoils.
Speaking to MUTV (h/t Manchester Evening News) after the 1-1 draw, De Gea expressed his disappointment. However, the Spaniard saw it coming after United’s drab second-half display.
“Especially since we conceded in 90 minutes, it was tough to take. The second half, we didn’t play well. In the first half, we did and created a lot of chances, we scored a great goal but we lost control after half-time.
“But this is the Premier League, when the teams are down, they put more players in front, press higher and then they create chances. We deserved it because we didn’t play well in the second half. I think we could have conceded before [the goal].”
The 32-year-old made some great saves during the match. He tipped a shot from Odsonne Edouard onto the crossbar at the 40th-minute mark. Subsequently, the Red Devils broke the deadlock just before half-time.
