David de Gea and Manchester United were together for 12 years. At the height of his career, the 33-year-old was amongst the best goalkeepers in the world if not the best.

It came as a shock to the fans when the Spanish national revealed his exit from the club through a social media post. This was soon followed by the player revealing that he would consider retiring if a suitable offer didn’t reach him soon.

De Gea doesn’t wanna sit on the bench as he nears the end of his career. If he is gonna play again he wants to leave it all out there on the field and not on the sidelines. It will take a ludicrous offer from a prominent club to get him to put on his gloves again.

There has been some talk of an opportunity at Newcastle United. But, the club is only looking for a goalkeeper because of Nick Pope’s injury. This is most probably going to be a deal breaker for De Gea.

His wanting to be the primary goalkeeper might come off as being arrogant. But, it all makes sense when you look at the 30-year-old’s record in goal at Manchester United.

David de Gea made 545 appearances for the Old Trafford squad. Standing tall at 1.89m he was a force to be reckoned with. This is reflected on his record as he maintained a staggering 190 clean sheets for the Red Devils (Transfermarkt).
