Manchester United could lose Raphael Varane as they have opted not to extend his contract
Raphael Varane’s future at Manchester United has been uncertain for quite some time now. There have also been reports emerging which suggest that the player could be shopped during January.
According to The Daily Mail, the team has opted to not extend the Frenchman’s contract. At first, it may look like the team is ready to let go of him. But, the situation is more complicated than it looks.
The only reason that the team has opted not to extend the player is because of his ridiculous wage. Varane earns somewhere in the neighbourhood of £340,000 per week (Spotrac). This is hard to justify because he is often on the sidelines due to injuries.
The team is trying to draft up a new contract for the player with reduced wages. However, they must remember that the 30-year-old is free to talk to whoever he wants.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have both displayed an interest in Varane. But, it has been reported that the player likes United and wants to continue playing for the team. Fans will be pleased about this development.
Raphael Varane has been a hero to the fans ever since his masterclass against Liverpool. His display of class was a reminder to everyone who was talking about letting the player go in January.
