Marcus Rashford makes Carabao Cup admission after Burnley win
Speaking in an interview with MUTV as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford has revealed how he got over the World Cup heartbreak and explains what is ahead for the Red Devils this season.
Manchester United came up with an impressive 2-0 win against Burnley in the Carabao cup with Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen netting for Erik ten Hag’s side in what was their first competitive game in over a month.
Rashford picked off from where he left off for Man United before the break scoring on his club’s return to action. The English striker also had a good World Cup on personal terms considering the few minutes he got.
However, the World Cup ended in heartbreak for the Man United man with England not able to get past France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup despite being the better team over a period of ninety minutes.
Following this disappointment, it was interesting to see how the English players recovered, especially Rashford. Although it could have also been the injury he suffered, Rashford had a torrid time in the aftermath of the England Euro final loss.
Speaking after the game against Burnley, here is what Rashford had to say about coping with the World Cup loss.
“I had a little break, I think you need it more for the emotional side of things because it’s such a low being kicked out of any tournament. You have to pick yourself up because there’s no time to feel sorry for yourself and come back with your head down”
Man United will have tougher assignments on the horizon as they look to have an improved second half to the season. They will also be looking at potential reinforcements in the January transfer window that they find suitable.
With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club, it leaves the Red Devils a little understaffed in the striker position although the impressive performances from Marcus Rashford might have alleviated fears regarding this.
