Manchester United target and Nigeria star Victor Osimhen is determined to stay at Napoli for the foreseeable future. The 23-year-old wants to lift some sort of silverware with the Partenopei.

The Red Devils have the striker on their wish list to bolster the front line. Erik ten Hag is looking to add strength up front to his squad in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking to Il Mattino (h/t Manchester Evening News), Osimhen has revealed his desire to stay in Naples and win trophies. However, the striker is open about his future.

“It’s one of the best clubs in Europe and I want to win here. The future is this moment, try to win something relevant in Italy.

“It’s hard to think about something better than Napoli, one of the best clubs in Italy, right now. I am only focused on this season because we haven’t done anything yet. We must win something and then we’ll see what happens.”

The Nigerian signed for Napoli in the summer of 2020 from French outfit LOSC Lille. Since then, he has been the talisman of the Partenopei.

In the current campaign, the Naples-based club are flying high. They are currently at the top of the Serie A table. The Italian outfit are eight points ahead of reigning champions AC Milan at the moment.

Osimhen has been one of the leading players for Luciano Spalletti’s team. The 23-year-old has featured 14 times in all competitions for Napoli this season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists.

United recently lost Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old left the club by mutual consent just before the start of the 2022 World Cup after his controversial interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was not as influential under Erik ten Hag as in the previous campaign for the Old Trafford side. However, the Portugal international was getting regular minutes due to the injuries in the squad.

Anthony Martial is now the only natural striker at the Dutch manager’s disposal. Unfortunately, the French national has missed a lot of games in the current campaign due to fitness issues.

Thus, United seemingly need to add a goalscorer to the team. Osimhen is one of the best in the business. But will the Red Devils get his signature? Only time will tell.
