Massimiliano Allegri, the manager of Juventus, has identified Manchester United star Diogo Dalot as his ‘dream’ signing, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Portugal international’s current contract expires at the end of the season (transfermarkt). He has been the first name on the team sheet for Erik ten Hag in the current campaign. As a result, the Red Devils are keen to tie the right-back down to a new deal.

However, the Old Lady will seemingly be monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation at the Old Trafford side. Currently, the Bianconeri have Juan Cuadrado, Danilo and Mattia De Sciglio on the right-hand side of the defence.

Dalot has been brilliant this season for United. The Dutch manager has counted on the Portuguese star for the majority of the fixtures. He has started in all but one game for the Red Devils in the current campaign.

However, the 23-year-old has not always been the first choice at the Old Trafford side. He signed for the Manchester-based club in the summer of 2018 from FC Porto and was a bit-part player.

Then, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United signed Aaron-Wan Bissaka from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019. Subsequently, Dalot saw his game time dwindle at the Red Devils.

The England U21 international was preferred by the Norwegian head coach. As a result, the former Porto star left the club and joined AC Milan on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Upon his return for the 2021/22 campaign, the Portuguese star was once again behind the former Palace star in the pecking order. However, Ole’s departure changed that and the 23-year-old has now cemented his place in the team.

Under Ten Hag, Wan-Bissaka has fallen out of favour, while Dalot has enjoyed regular game time. However, he seems to be the only natural right-back the gaffer trusts. Thus, it would be wise for the club to keep a hold of the Portuguese.
