Manchester United have endured a difficult campaign under Erik ten Hag, and the pressure on the Dutch boss is immense as they look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

The Red Devils have an 10-point gap to the traditional top-four finish and six games to go until the conclusion of the season. There have been expectations that the Dutch boss will be shown the door beyond the current season as the latest part owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, embarks on a journey to get the Old Trafford side back to where it belongs.

While new managers are cited, Ally McCoist has warned the Manchester Reds against hiring former Brighton boss Graham Potter as Erik ten Hag’s replacement (h/t Metro).

Alongside Potter, England manager Gareth Southgate, who is expected to quit his current position in charge of the Three Lions after this summer’s Euros, has been linked with a Manchester United move, while former Chelsea gaffer Potter also has admirers at Old Trafford.

Potter’s last job at the Bridge ended in a disastrous spell in West London after three years in charge of the Seagulls.

When quizzed about the possibility of having Garaham Potter at Manchester United, McCoist said on talkSPORT: ‘No, I don’t think he’d be a good fit for that job. I think he’ll need to go somewhere else first after the disappointment at Chelsea.

‘I don’t think he’ll come into the running for United because I don’t think it’s a good look for them to take a manager who’s been sacked at Chelsea.’

The Dutch gaffer enjoyed three league titles with Ajax before moving to the Old Trafford side, although he has looked underwhelming since he moved to the Red Devils. Graham Potter is only an option, and it is to be seen whether the United Red’s will overpower him for any probable options.

It is to be seen whether ten Hag continues as United boss beyond this summer, and Potter is an interesting option that the Red Devils are looking at.
