LOSC Lille and Canada star Jonathan David “well known” by Manchester United scouts
Canada international Jonathan David, who plays for LOSC Lille, is “well known” by the scouts of Manchester United. The Red Devils are being linked with a move for the 22-year-old.
The forward has been the talisman for Les Dogues over the years. In the current campaign, the striker has taken his game up a notch and put in some impressive displays.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News), transfer guru Fabrizio Romano acknowledged the Old Trafford side’s interest in David. However, he also claimed that the club are yet to make an approach for the forward.
“It’s normal for top players to be linked with Man Utd, but at the moment there are no negotiations ongoing for David. He’s well known by United scouts of course but there are no talks ongoing at the moment. I’m sure he will continue to attract interest from many top clubs.”
The 22-year-old joined Lille in the summer of 2020 from Belgian outfit KAA Gent. Since then, the striker has developed season after season to become a better goalscorer.
In the current campaign, David has featured in 15 Ligue 1 games for Les Dogues. He has managed to find the back of the net nine times and set up another three goals.
The 22-year-old is currently in Qatar with the Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, John Herdman’s team lost their first two fixtures in Group F at the World Cup and are out of the running to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Marcus Rashford has led United’s attacking line for most of the season. Erik ten Hag has deployed the 25-year-old in the number nine position instead of his natural role out wide.
The Dutch manager has had to rely on the England international. This is because he did not seem to fancy Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at the club and Anthony Martial has been on the sidelines a lot this season.
