Manchester United set to offer England international Marcus Rashford new contract
England international Marcus Rashford is set to be offered a new contract by Manchester United following his encouraging performances this season, according to CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of the 25-year-old. The Dutch manager considers the forward an essential part of the club’s present and future and is keen on keeping hold of him.
Rashford’s existing deal with the Red Devils is set to expire in the summer of 2023. However, with the gaffer’s approval, the Old Trafford side are looking to extend the academy graduate’s stay in Manchester.
The English star broke out at the Old Trafford side in the 2016/17 campaign. And since then, he has grown from strength to strength, developing into a quality player.
However, the winger did have a considerable low last season. As a result, the forward lost his place in the Red Devils’ starting lineup and failed to make an impact when on the pitch.
In 32 appearances in all competitions last term, Rashford scored five goals and provided two assists. Thankfully, he seems to have found form with the arrival of Erik ten Hag at United.
This season, the 25-year-old has been our talisman. He has featured in 19 games for us in all competitions and has found the back of the net eight times, the most in the squad.
The Dutch manager has preferred the English forward ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the number nine position. The winger has stepped up as the Red Devils’ striker in the absence of Anthony Martial, who has had injury issues in the current campaign.
